Stérilisation centrale : le parcours d'un dispositif médical

The Central Sterilization Unit (CSU) is a department under the responsibility of the Nantes University Hospital's internal pharmacy (PUI). It provides cleaning and sterilization services for more than 80 departments at Nantes University Hospital. This is a major challenge in the fight against nosocomial infections. This sterilization process eliminates germs and viruses present on surgical instruments and ensures the sterility of the equipment until its use in the operating room or in departments and consultations (compliance with good sterilization practices). The sterilization process is organized according to a consistent and secure sequence of steps to ensure sterile conditions are achieved. These steps are carried out in specifically dedicated and adapted facilities and are performed by trained personnel using qualified equipment (washing cabinet, washer-disinfector, sterilizer, etc.).
