The city of Tampere has a population of approximately 261,000, and the wider region has a population of approximately 443,000. The Tampere Metropolitan Area Joint Municipal Authority has a population of approximately 425,000. Tampere is the third largest municipality in Finland and the second largest urban area, including its surrounding municipalities.
