The tools of modern science can help us reinterpret the past. Historians have long wondered why the illustrations in ancient Greek books are conceptually flawed. In his talk, Christián Carman takes us on his journey of discovery, with a surprising ending. Christián Carman is an independent researcher at CONICET and a professor at the National University of Quilmes and the Catholic University of Argentina (UCA). He loved science from a young age, although when he discovered philosophy, he pursued that path and later turned to the history of Greek astronomy. He spent his later years studying the remains of a Greek treasure found in a shipwreck. And he is convinced that thousands of other, even more valuable, treasures lie buried in the books of the ancients. And he is eager to help rescue them. When he's not playing Indiana Jones, he enjoys spending time with his wife and his four fantastic children.
