On the third of June, two thousand and twenty six, Colonel Gavin Jacob, commander of the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, faced one of the tensest sessions yet at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. Jacob was one of the officers who inspected the shipping container at Durban Harbour in 2021, the one found to be holding five hundred and forty one kilograms of cocaine worth more than two hundred million rand. Months later, that consignment vanished from the Hawks storage facility in Port Shepstone. To this day, no arrests have been made and nothing has been recovered.
