He says: Yes, I confess, when I was fervently engaged in the compilation of the works my Master had published in the service of the Quran, there was a mosque imam in our neighborhood. With the intention of donning my old scholarly garments and turban, I temporarily neglected that service and unknowingly withdrew. Contrary to my intention, I received a compassionate slap. Although I served as imam for eight or nine months, despite the mufti's many promises, I was exceptionally unable to wrap the turban. There is no doubt that this compassionate slap stemmed from that shortcoming. I was both my Master's interlocutor and his draftsman. He had difficulty in compiling the compilation when I withdrew. Whatever it was, thankfully, we realized our shortcomings and realized how sacred this service was. And we trusted that we had a master like Shah Geylani, a protecting angel, behind us.
