Walking IS a Real Workout - What Gym Culture Gets Wrong

Is walking a real workout? I lift 5–6 days a week, and walking is the most underrated thing in my entire routine. A few months ago I'd have rolled my eyes at this video; I thought walking was for old people, that if I wasn't dripping sweat it didn't count. I was wrong. The biggest analysis we have — 57 studies, about 160,000 people (The Lancet Public Health, 2025) — links ~7,000 steps a day to roughly 47% LOWER all-cause mortality risk vs ~2,000 steps. In this video I break down what that does and doesn't mean, why low intensity is the whole point and not a weakness, and where the gym crowd is actually right. Since February I've dropped about 15 percentage points of body fat. Walking was the unlock: the one thing I could do every single day without burning out. The best exercise is the one you'll actually keep doing. 🎬 VIDEO CHAPTERS 0:00 Hear me out 1:01 "Walking isn't a workout" — the take 2:10 The Research 4:56 Why I changed my mind 9:13 The Unlock 10:41 Where the gym crowd is right 11:40 The takeaway 12:50 Conclusion STUDY CITED Ding D, et al.
