The Costume Gallery of the Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Center of the State Hermitage Museum is presenting the exhibition "The Emperor's Wardrobe. For the 350th Anniversary of Peter the Great's Birth." For the first time, the Gallery is dedicated to memorabilia belonging to Peter the Great and items from the "Wardrobe of Peter the Great" collection, which has unquestionably earned the reputation of being the world's finest collection of men's clothing from the late 17th to the first quarter of the 18th centuries. Together with Victoria Petrova, a staff member of the State Hermitage Museum's Research and Education Department, we will not only explore the richness and diversity of the founder of St. Petersburg's costumes but also debunk the myth of Peter the Great's modest or exclusively military attire. The "Wardrobe" exhibition comprises over 300 items, roughly spanning the years 1672–1725.
