Lake District Adventure: Wild Camping, Hiking & Gingerbread | Vanlife UK

What a fantastic bank holiday adventure in the Lake District! Come along with us as we explore the stunning lakes. Our journey began on Thursday night with a peaceful wild camping spot at Downs Banks, a lovely park near Stoke-on-Trent where we shared the evening with a few other vans. The next morning, after a quick McDonald's breakfast, we set our sights on the Lake District. Our first stop was Kendal – a crucial detour as Lauren had, rather inconveniently, forgotten her waterproof jacket! Suitably prepared for the Cumbrian weather, we then drove towards Walna Scar, with ambitious plans to conquer the Old Man of Coniston. However, the scale of this hike proved to be a bit of a surprise for Lauren, who hadn't quite mentally prepared for the challenge! Did we reach the summit? You'll have to watch to find out! Our efforts rewarded us with another idyllic wild camping location, this time right on the edge of Coniston Water. The views were breathtaking, although the tranquility was slightly ruined by the road noise. Saturday saw us exploring the charming village of Coniston before we made our way to Grasmere. Lauren had heard tales of the legendary gingerbread and simply had to try it! From Grasmere, we continued to Windermere, which appeared to be enjoying a visit from what felt like the entire population of the UK! Despite the crowds, we had a truly wonderful weekend.
