When Silence Becomes Complicity | Mariam Lambert | TEDxIIFTDelhi
An international human rights defender reflects on the hidden cost of conflict when suffering becomes normalized and silence replaces responsibility. Drawing from her work with children affected by war, she shares powerful stories that reveal how humanitarian crises often persist not because they are unseen, but because they become accepted. Challenging the idea of neutrality in the face of injustice, she argues that protecting children must transcend politics, borders and ideology. This talk is a compelling call to choose responsibility over comfort and humanity over indifference. Mariam Lambert is a human rights advocate and humanitarian leader dedicated to protecting children affected by conflict and displacement. Through her work with the Emile Foundation, she has been actively involved in supporting vulnerable communities in Ukraine, advocating for the reunification of forcibly deported children with their families, and raising global awareness about the human cost of war. Combining on-the-ground humanitarian action with international advocacy, Mariam works closely with governments, organizations, and civil society to champion justice, resilience, and human dignity. Her mission is rooted in the belief that every child deserves safety, freedom, and the opportunity to build a future free from fear. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
