Dr John Jones - Developing Soil Fertility Research

Dr. Jones recently joined the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Department of Crop Sciences as an Assistant Professor of Agronomy and Soil Fertility Extension Specialist. He will present research and outreach efforts underway and efforts that are on deck to address nutrient management around the state with a specific focus on: nitrogen management, nutrient cycling knowledge gaps, soil-test interpretations, and site-specific information to guide fertilization. Preliminary results from the 2025 NREC project “Using On-farm Precision Experiments in a Data-intensive Approach to Systems Management of Cover Crops and Nitrogen Fertilizer” will also be shared. 19 minutes
