Cheap Classic Car Steering Wheel Restoration

Today, I am going to show everyone how I took an old cracked steering wheel I bought off eBay for $15, and made it good again. The steering wheels in old 1950s and 60s cars are often made out of this plastic, bakelite material that just wasn't meant to last 60+ years. So they are often cracked and in need of repair. The wheel in my 1962 Pontiac Catalina sure was. Let's look at what you can do to fix that. I scoured eBay until I found a repair candidate. Then got to work. In total aside from drying time, I have about 2 hours into this project. You can definitely spend more time and have your wheel come out even better! Here is a link to a steering wheel restoration service, if you want one that is dead perfect, or you can't find a replacement. https://www.steeringwheelbob.com/ Link for spray-can 2K Urethane Clear Coat. This stuff works great, but if you have a spray gun I recommend buying in bulk since it will last longer. https://www.eastwood.com/ew-2k-aeroso... Here is an Alternate Look from Eastwood using similar materials.
