L’historien Marc Bloch et la cité par Pap Ndiaye

To mark Marc Bloch's entry into the Panthéon on June 23, the University of Strasbourg is paying tribute to one of the major figures of history and the social sciences through a series of events. The first in the series, the day of June 15, 2026, "Marc Bloch at the Panthéon," allowed the public to (re)discover Marc Bloch's contributions to history, examine the scope of his commitment, and appreciate the enduring relevance of his thought in current debates. Among the speakers, Pap Ndiaye, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of France to the Council of Europe, spoke on "The Historian and the City." The example of Marc Bloch demonstrates that historians need not be closed off from the world they live in, but rather engage with it by bringing their own unique approach, characterized by analysis and critique. This is also what Pap Ndiaye does, in his own way.
