In the 1930s, haunted by the memories of the Great War, France undertook the construction of the most formidable defensive barrier in history: the Maginot Line. Hundreds of kilometers of concrete and steel, autonomous underground cities, and cutting-edge technology designed to make the country inviolable. Yet, in June 1940, France collapsed in just six weeks. Since then, this fortification has become the global symbol of failure. But is this reputation justified? Was the Line truly useless? How do we explain that the majority of the crews remained undefeated, refusing to surrender even after the armistice, while the rest of the country had capitulated?
