A typhoon was on its way. So my mother and I made plum wine together, using the plums we had picked just before the storm. My mother doesn't drink, but she still makes plum wine every year. We also began making umeboshi — they'll take a little more time. We harvested vegetables from the garden and cooked dinner with them while the wind grew stronger outside. Days like this won't last forever. So I quietly treasure them.
