It's an assertion soundly borne out by the Southern-fried Brooklyn trio's sophomore record Then Came The Morning, released this January. The record might not mark a major sonic departure from the grandiose folk rock from the band's 2013 debut that brought so much acclaim. But a collaboration with The National's Aaron Dessner (who has produced albums by Luluc, Sharon Van Etten and others) resulted in some subtler shades around the edges of Zach Williams', Brian Elmquist's and Pipkin's ecstatically intertwined voices.
