Epic River Side Backroads Camping Trip | Remote Backcountry Camping on Vancouver Island We rolled in not knowing if we’d even get the spot we were hoping for — but somehow, it was wide open! And honestly… it turned out to be even better than we expected. We spent 3 nights camping along a stunning glacier-fed river with crystal clear, icy blue water. After setting up camp, we explored a nearby area where a forest fire had passed through just weeks earlier and grabbed some firewood. Kat put together an awesome charcuterie board with meats and cheeses, we relaxed by the river, and the cold swim was exactly what we needed after exploring. The night skies were unreal — I managed to get some amazing photos of the Milky Way and stars. On our last day, we hiked into the forest and found a massive old-growth Douglas Fir — standing next to a tree that ancient was unreal.
