From Migration to Entrepreneurship: Amina’s Story
Amina Ahmed Dahir left Somalia hoping to build a better future in Europe. Instead, she endured unimaginable hardship crossing the Libyan desert — walking for days without food or water before being detained in Libya for five months. Through IOM’s Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration programme, supported by the European Union, Amina returned home to Mogadishu and began rebuilding her life. Today, she runs a small business, supports her children, and looks to the future with renewed hope. In 2025, IOM assisted more than 900 Somali migrants to voluntarily return home, helping many restart their lives through reintegration support and livelihood opportunities. #Somalia #Migration #IOM #EU #AVRR #Mogadishu #WomenEntrepreneurs #Resilience #ReturnAndReintegration
