Bikepacking Ireland - County Kerry

A few clips from an enjoyable 2.5 day bikepacking journey around the Kingdom of County Kerry in the rugged southwest corner of Ireland. Our journey started in Tralee, taking us over the 456-metre Conor Pass, before we took in a loop around the Dingle Peninsula, with a vital pitstop for Guinness at the famous Tigh an tSaorsaigh pub in Ballyferriter. From Dingle, we pedalled to Annascaul Lake and wild camped on its shores for the night. The next day, we continued south-east, past Inch Beach and then turned west onto the scenic Iveragh Peninsula. From Glenbeigh, we tackled a vertiginous off-road route which dropped us towards Cahersiveen. This was the last town or village we would see for 75 kilometres, as we headed into the remote interior of the Iveragh peninsula tackling the Ballaghisheen Pass, followed by the Ballaghbeama Gap, before pitching our tents on its summit for the night. Our last day was a short one, climbing Moll's Gap before descending into the Black Valley, one of the last places on mainland Ireland to be connected to the electricity and telephone networks due to its remoteness. We faced one final steep climb out of the valley, reaching the Gap of Dunloe, which gifted us a gorgeous descent past cliffsides and lakes, before we cruised the final kilometres back to Tralee, ending a wonderful 2.5 days of cycling through one of Ireland's most scenic counties.
