Leo XIV. in Castel Gandolfo: "Atomwaffen abschaffen"

Pope Leo XIV answered questions from journalists in Castel Gandolfo on Tuesday evening. The topics included the US-Iran conflict and Lebanon, his assessment of his trip to Spain, migration, and the Society of St. Pius X. Regarding the announced memorandum between the US and Iran, the Pope said it was better to resolve outstanding issues "through dialogue and negotiations" and "not to return to war." He expressed his hope "that the war is truly over." Concerning so-called "remigration," Leo XIV said it was not enough to deport people "to absolve ourselves of the problem." People must be treated "as human beings with respect." With regard to the Society of St. Pius X, Leo XIV warned against new episcopal consecrations and described them as a burden on the Catholic Church.
