We rely too much on foreign powers for things we should be able to provide ourselves. They supply us with weapons, equipment, and other forms of support, while partners like U.S. AFRICOM also assist us. But whether they stay or leave, we cannot continue depending on them for our security needs. It is time for us to get the basics right, build our own capacity, and break free from this culture of dependence by doing the things we are capable of doing ourselves.
