Palestinos de Chile
The Palestinian community in Chile numbers around half a million people and is the largest of the Palestinian diaspora outside the Middle East. Migrants from Bethlehem, Beit Jala, and Jerusalem began arriving in the late 19th century, drawn by a booming South America that offered them opportunities to grow economically. But in the mid-20th century, migration surged due to the conflict with Israel. Descendants of several generations and more recent Palestinian migrants have made Chile their home. In Santiago, they established themselves in the famous "Patronato" neighborhood, which to this day feels like a "little Palestine." #DWMigrations
