Huaca Pucllana, Ancient Pyramid In Modern Megacity - Lima, Peru
Almost two thousand years ago in central coastal Peru the Lima Culture built the Pyramid/Temple known as Huaca Pucllana using hand made adobe bricks. Right in the middle of the MiraFlores District of modern Mega City Lima, this ancient pyramid still remains...parts of it still covered in sand and it is still in the process of being excavated. The Lima culture existed in this part of Peru about two thousand years ago and they began construction of this massive adobe structure around 500CE. By the time the next culture came, The Wari, the structure had been abandoned and the Wari continued to build platforms on it. As a contrast to my typical format of ancient ruins in the Southwestern United States, Huaca Pucllana was being built and had a decent sized population around it over 500 years before the buildings of Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde. Fascinating to think about! If you're in Lima, Peru...visiting the Pyramid doesn't take long. Maybe an hour at the most and it's well worth it! Much to contemplate! Like The Video(s)? Hit That SUBSCRIBE!! Really Helps The Channel!! Thanks For Watching!! Visitation to sites such as this should be done with the utmost respect. The artwork is not simply graffiti, it is a window into the past and it is culturally significant. Please take great care when visiting and observing these places.
