Message delivered at the church in Rio de Janeiro - Cidade de Deus - we looked at Acts 2 which shows the beginning of the Church age, starting with the descent of the Holy Spirit and the ministry of the Word through Peter. On the day of Pentecost, we see the disciples gathered when a sound like a rushing wind - which points to regeneration - filled the house and the fire of the Spirit - the work of purification - worked in their hearts. We also saw the tongues which point to the preaching of the gospel. The apostle Peter shows that the function of the Word is to lead the church to the Person of Christ: his life, death and resurrection. Finally, we saw that the crowd, upon hearing Peter's message, became distressed and asked what to do. Peter replied: "Repent."
