⚠️Venezuela | Delsa Solórzano: “Gracias a Dios estamos vivos y tengo un techo” 🇻🇪

🟡One week after the disaster, the Venezuelan tragedy has left more than 50,000 missing. “There’s a painful smell in the streets,” said opposition leader Delsa Solórzano, alluding to the time that has passed and the bodies that remain under the rubble. 🎙In the context of the double earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that struck Venezuela last Wednesday, June 24, Liliana Romero interviewed Delsa Solórzano, a leading figure in the anti-Chavista opposition and recognized for her unwavering work in defense of human rights, on the program “Dialogando” on Radio Sudamericana in Corrientes, Argentina. Solórzano recalled that she emerged from hiding on January 27, after having remained in hiding for more than a year and a half to protect her life. 🔵Delsa Solórzano explained that she lives in Los Palos Grandes, one of the Caracas neighborhoods affected by the earthquake: “My building is structurally sound, but my house isn't. The walls of the first floor couldn't withstand the earthquakes and collapsed. I thank God that we are alive and that I have a roof over my head,” she recounted emotionally. 🔴Electricity and water are beginning to be restored in some areas, but the gas supply remains interrupted. “The situation constitutes a complex humanitarian crisis, marked by the Venezuelan state's absolute inability to provide solutions,” she noted, emphasizing that two fundamental pillars have emerged in this scenario: the solidarity of the Venezuelan people, who are organizing themselves autonomously, and international aid, with rescuers from various countries collaborating alongside civil society. 🟡“If it weren't for international aid, the tragedy in Venezuela would be much worse today,” she said, highlighting the role of rescue teams from various countries working tirelessly in the affected areas. 🔵Delsa Solórzano's account reflects scenes of profound sorrow: entire families sleeping in the streets, hospitals without supplies, and communities attempting to rescue their loved ones with their bare hands, due to the lack of machinery to remove the rubble. The image of Venezuelans digging through ruins with makeshift tools or even with their bare hands encapsulates the magnitude of state abandonment and the resilience of a people who refuse to surrender. 🔴She emphasized the inconsistencies in the official data released by Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly of Venezuela and brother of the interim president, Delcy Rodríguez. He pointed out that there are no precise figures on the amount of damaged buildings, nor is there any information on monitoring to determine the condition of the remaining buildings, which ones are at risk of collapse, and which ones are habitable. 🟡Given this lack of official information, Venezuelan universities organized themselves to have engineers and professors from various disciplines conduct technical surveys of the buildings' condition. 🔵Official data released on Wednesday, July 1, reports 2,295 deaths, more than 11,000 injuries, 12,841 people displaced, and more than 17,000 people treated in hospitals. However, the lack of transparency and the absence of established protocols deepen the uncertainty in a country facing one of the worst tragedies in its recent history. 🔴One week after the disaster, hospitals are experiencing shortages of essential supplies to treat the injured. The Venezuelan state has not developed any protocols for action. No collection centers have been organized to distribute aid, nor has an official website been set up to locate missing persons. Shelters and camps have also not been organized to assist the thousands of people who have lost everything. 🟡The emergency has worsened in recent days due to torrential rains, which have further complicated the situation. Even areas not directly affected by the earthquakes are now flooded, expanding the scope of the tragedy and multiplying the needs of the population. 🇻🇪 One week after the disaster, Venezuela is experiencing an unprecedented catastrophe: thousands dead, injured, and missing; buildings and homes reduced to ruins; entire families trapped under the rubble. The tragedy is compounded by hospitals lacking supplies, communities without shelter, and official data that lacks credibility, leaving the population in the most painful uncertainty. 🇻🇪 Amidst the devastation, the absence of the state contrasts sharply with the solidarity of civil society and international aid, which have become the sole support for a people who endure amidst pain and destruction. 🎙DIALOGUE... with LILIANA ROMERO🎧 Wednesday, July 1, 2026. #Venezuela #Earthquake #Disaster #DelsaSolorzano #Caracas #LaGuaira #Dialogue #LilianaRomero #RadioSudamericana #News #Urgent #SudamericanaLive
