It is counted among the most powerful and secure forts of India. This fort was built in the 12th century (around 1187 AD) by King Bhillam V of the Yadava dynasty. In 1296 AD, Delhi's Sultan Alauddin Khilji attacked Devagiri and looted immense wealth from here.
