Fishing Golden Gate for Urban Peacocks

On today’s adventure, we headed south to Golden Gate in Southwest Florida in search of one of our favorite exotic game fish—the Peacock Bass! Armed with an assortment of micro lures and a bucket of live shiners, we put several techniques to the test. While the lures got some attention, every fish we landed ended up coming on live bait. Summer is one of the best times to target Peacock Bass in South Florida. These hard-fighting fish are known for their aggressive strikes, incredible colors, and nonstop action, making them a favorite species to chase year-round.
