Norfolk and Western 611: Steaming Through the Shenandoah Valley

On October 11th and 12th, 2025, I made a visit to Goshen, VA, to see the famous Norfolk and Western #611. This streamlined steam locomotive from 1950 was the main star of the Shenandoah Valley Limited, an excursion running on Goshen, VA to Staunton, VA through the scenic George Washington and Jefferson National Forest. These 3.5-hour excursions ran from Friday to Sunday, from September 26th to October 26th, with departures at 9:00 am and 2:30 pm. At the time of this video's posting, there are still excursions taking place. This was the second time the 611 would run on this route, and also the second time I would chase it, having visited two years ago during the 2023 excursions. During this year's chase, I did my best to prioritize capturing shots I had never taken before. Overall, I feel that I succeeded in doing so, as I got numerous new locations, as well as some unique moments of meets between the 611 and CSX mainline traffic.
