Kempston Hardwick Level Crossing, Bedfordshire

Date filmed: Saturday the 23rd of March 2024 Video filmed at 10:19 Featuring: ‪@ElectraLevelCrossings‬ Route: Marston Vale Line Kempston Hardwick (KMH) Station The least-used station in Bedfordshire Crossing type: Automatic Half Barrier Crossing (AHBC) Location: Manor Road, Kempston Hardwick Trains featured: 66 769 (GB Railfreight) & Empty Aggregate Train - 0:50 4F04 Bletchley Cemex GBRf ➡ Wellingborough Up Tc GBRf | 14 minutes early An automatic half barrier level crossing beside Bedfordshire's least-used station, Kempston Hardwick, on the Marston Vale Line, seen in this video activating for an empty aggregate / stone freight train heading towards Wellingborough from Bletchley after coming down loaded from Peak Forest the night before. This train was really quite moving as it got here having picked up quite a lot of speed already after accelerating out of Forders Loop only around a mile away! It was being worked by a special-livery GBRf Class 66 on this day, and was allowed to run as soon as possible after passing through the loop, for drivers' route knowledge purposes, as that hour's Bedford passenger service was cancelled due to a train fault. This was the first level crossing on the Marston Vale Line to get LED wigwags in 2019, though in contrast it still has its original barriers from the early 1990s which survived the 2004 resignalling project on the line. A signal at the crossing's end of the Bedford-bound platform can be held at red to minimise barrier down time for stopping services, but it will automatically be set to the least-restrictive aspect for a non-stop train like seen in this video as the further set of detection will activate the crossing sequence. Apologies about the wind noise in this video as it was quite a windy day. Train details sourced from: Real Time Trains: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sear...
