Arithmetic Sequences | HSF.LE.A.2 🖤
In this video lesson we will learn how to identify an arithmetic sequence. We will learn that an arithmetic sequence is a sequence where the difference between each pair of consecutive terms is the same. We will discover that this difference is referred to as the common difference. We will learn how to identify the common difference and use the common difference to find the next three terms of the arithmetic sequence. We will discover that an arithmetic sequence is a discrete linear function. We will learn the formula for writing the equation of an arithmetic sequence. We will write the equations of arithmetic sequences and use the equation to find the nth term. Student practice is embedded in the lesson with modeled exemplar solutions. #algebra #arithmeticsequence #commondifference #findthenextthreeterms Purchase an Editable Copy of the Google Slides Used to Make this video - https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/P... https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/S... 00:00 Introduction 00:30 What is a Sequence? 01:32 Arithmetic Sequence 03:28 Common Difference 04:17 Find the Next 3 Terms 04:47 Student Practice #1 05:40 Student Practice #2 06:31 Graphing an Arithmetic Sequence 07:51 Discrete Linear Function 08:58 Equation for an Arithmetic Sequence 12:08 Writing an Equation for an Arithmetic Sequence 13:48 Finding the nth Term 14:51 Student Practice #3 Common Core Math Standards HSF.IF.A.3 Recognize that sequences are functions, sometimes defined recursively, whose domain is a subset of the integers. Build a function that models a relationship between two quantities. HSF.BF.A.1 Write a function that describes a relationship between two quantities. HSF.BF.A.1.A Determine an explicit expression, a recursive process, or steps for calculation from a context. HSF.BF.A.2 Write arithmetic and geometric sequences both recursively and with an explicit formula, use them to model situations, and translate between the two forms. HSF.LE.A.2 Construct linear and exponential functions, including arithmetic and geometric sequences, given a graph, a description of a relationship, or two input-output pairs (include reading these from a table).
