The FORGOTTEN Car Brand That Sold 700 Units and Disappeared
A car brand that sold just 700 units, vanished within a year, and left zero confirmed survivors. This is the story of the most obscure nameplate in British automotive history. In the early 1980s, Japanese imports were capped at 11 percent of the UK market. So Mitsubishi's UK distributor created an entirely new brand, sourced vehicles from Australia, and tried to sell them as something different. The brand was called Lonsdale. Most people have never heard of it. Of the 700 built, not one has been proven to still exist. The community searched. The databases were checked. This might be as close as automotive history gets to a confirmed extinction. Have you ever heard of the Lonsdale? Drop it in the comments.
