Federal Signal STH-10 Alert and Attack - Arcola, IN
Monthly test of the Allen County siren system. This STH-10 is located atop the far west grain elevator in the village of Arcola. It was installed in 2000 and replaced an old Fedelcode Model 2 at the fire station. Around 2011/2012, the motor burnt up (probably got struck by lightning) rendering it inoperable. Bill attempted to get a video of it in August of 2015, and nothing happened. However, recently a local electric shop volunteered their time and refurbished the motor, so once again Arcola has a working siren. It sounds alert for tornado warnings, and attack for firecalls. Which is what happened here. I was sitting in my car about 10 minutes before the test and it wound up in attack, so I grabbed my camera and started recording. On the video, alert and attack are flipped, the firecall actually occurred first, then the actual siren test. You can hear one of the trucks responding as the siren is winding down after alert.
