The Dhikr of Hajj: Session 2: Arafah – Standing Before Allah & The Farewell Hajj

In Session 2 of The Dhikr of Hajj series — Arafah: Standing Before Allah & The Farewell Hajj — we journeyed into the deeper realities of surrender, accountability, sacrifice, taqwā and sincere return to Allah. Together we reflected on: The meaning and root of Arafah — recognition, awareness and truly knowing ourselves before Allah. The emotional and spiritual reality of standing before Allah The sacrifices we struggle to make in our lives The attachments, sins, distractions, relationships and versions of ourselves that distance us from Allah And the difference between outward worship and inward sincerity We explored Allah’s oath in Surah Al-Fajr regarding the blessed ten days of Dhul Hijjah, as well as the powerful reminder in Surah Al-Hajj (22:37) that: “Neither their meat nor their blood reaches Allah, but what reaches Him is your taqwā.” Through deep Muhāsabah self-reflection and moments of Murāqabah, we reflected on the state of our hearts, the sincerity behind our worship and what it truly means to sacrifice for the sake of Allah. The session also journeyed through the Farewell Hajj of Nabi Muhammad (S.A.W), his final sermon, his concern for the Ummah and the perfection of Islam through the revelation: “This day I have perfected for you your religion…” One of the most emotional moments of the session was the “Dear Allah” reflective exercise — a quiet moment of writing honestly to Allah about the burdens, fears, struggles, hopes, sins and silent wounds carried within the heart. This session was a reminder that: Hajj is not only a physical journey. It is the journey of the heart back to Allah. May Allah allow these sacred days to transform us, soften our hearts with taqwā and make us among those who return to Him sincerely. Ameen.
