[Entrance DIY Episode 2: Building a Homemade Rainwater Drainage System] I'm currently developing a street leading from the entrance to my overgrown garden, and in Episode 1, I leveled the area. The day after it rained, puddles formed in the leveled area. It turns out that the leveled area has very poor drainage, and puddles form every time it rains. In that situation, even if I leveled the area, I knew I'd still have to deal with rainwater issues. So, before leveling the area, I decided to take measures to prevent rainwater from seeping in. Originally, this area had rain chains hanging from gutters on the roof, allowing rainwater to seep into the ground (or drain off the property via pipes). The rain chains had broken due to aging, and the drainage system had become buried in soil and was unusable. So I decided to dig a hole in this area, fill it with crushed stone, and create a "rainwater infiltration frame" to allow rainwater to seep into the ground. However, as I continued digging, I discovered that the soil was a clay layer, the worst type of soil for drainage. However, my experiments showed that water could still drain to a certain extent even through the clay layer, so I decided to use those results to create a rainwater infiltration frame suitable for this location.
