Songzio 26 Spring Summer Collection ‘Polyptych’ 25 June 2025 Theatre National de Chaillot 75116 Paris, France @parisfashionweek Just as a Polyptych, a multi-paneled painting whose fragmented stories only reveal their full resonance when viewed as a singular whole, Songzio’s 26 Spring Summer Collection constructs and deconstructs sculptural architecture, a wearable discourse on absence and presence, past and future. This collection is a constructed chaos of contrast, a fierce rebellion against the boundaries of time, culture, and form. Songzio dissects the architecture of traditional garments, cuts them into abstracted shards, and reassembles them into daring, asymmetrical formations. In an act of radical deconstruction and reinterpretation, the Korean hanbok and the western armor are sliced, torn, recontextualized, not to efface their historical meaning but to innovate: garments become traces of history layered beneath bold new forms of the future. Silhouettes are bold and nonconforming, influenced by the traditional Korean art theory where negative space is not absence but presence. Volumes swell and recede, refusing to flatter or follow the body. Instead, they provoke presence, turning the wearer into a sculpture in motion, simultaneously grounded and otherworldly. This floating volume almost seem cut from air, taking on a ghostly presence. Bias cuts and asymmetrical drapes reshape the body in fluid motion, casting garments not as static objects but as flowing impressions. Vertical lines, threads and panels cascade down the body to form a ghostly veil, layering transparency and rhythm. A sleeve floats like a remnant; a hem juts out like a memory misaligned. Seams are no longer hidden but emphasized as scars and stories creating a sense of torn elegance. Panels do not match, they collide, converse, and harmonize. The effect is abstract yet intimate, as though each piece carries the bones of its ancestors and the breath of tomorrow. Garments are not worn to just adorn the body, instead they orbit it, echoing the polyptych’s architectural logic: each form is self-contained yet interdependent, structured yet fluid.
