KBCS In-studio - Renaud Garcia-Fons 20130502

French double-bassist extraordinaire, Renaud Garcia-Fons, performing live at the KBCS studios, Thursday, May 2nd 2013. Interviewed by Larry Jacobson, hosting The Caravan. Known to some as the "Paganini of the double bass", Garcia-Fons calls forth sounds that transcend the instrument -- sometimes a double bass, a cello, or a viola, sometimes an oud. From middle eastern influence to Persian, Kurdish, Flamenco, even Rock'n'Roll styles, Garcia-Fons is a rare virtuoso musician who combines impeccable technique with incredible heart and soul. Renaud Garcia-Fons will perform Saturday, May 4th 8:00 pm at Seattle's Town Hall in a special solo concert to benefit http://HopeUrbanFarms.org Hope Urban Farms is a project helping homeless people effectively leave homelessness behind. The project helps people start and run an organic, aquaponic garden in their own homes, generating both income through sale of high-value produce (such as rare herbs and vegetables) and providing sustainable, home-grown organic food for their own consumption.
