I took video of trains arriving & departing scene at Tatsuno Station. Tatsuno Station is an above-ground station with two platforms and four tracks, and serves as the border between JR East and JR Central. It is served by two lines, the Chūō Line and Iida Line. In the past, many limited express trains arrived & departed from this station, and it was the main route of the Chūō Line. However, to connect Okaya and Shiojiri, trains had to head far south and pass through this station, resulting in a significant loss of time. Construction of a new line was therefore considered, and in 1983 the Enrei Tunnel opened, connecting Okaya and Shiojiri directly. This changed the main route of the Chūō Line, and limited express trains now also use this route, meaning that no limited express trains arrive or depart from this station. As a result, the route from Okaya to Shiojiri via this station became a branch line of the Chūō Line, and is known as the Tatsuno Branch Line. The station's railway assets, such as the station building and platforms, are owned by JR East, and the station sign is also JR East-specific, but the majority of trains departing and arriving at the station are JR Central vehicles, and JR East vehicles are few and far between, only running on direct routes to the Iida Line or from this station to Shiojiri via Shinano-Kawashima.
