Antena 3 is a national television channel that broadcasts throughout Spain via the MPE2 multiplex. However, the network has a regional feed for the Canary Islands, which currently features advertising blocks specifically tailored for viewers on the islands. It is worth noting that Antena 3 used this separate signal to broadcast its own programs exclusively for the island population from 2008 to 2013, when a ruling by the nation’s Supreme Court revoked the television licenses granted to the Atresmedia Group, among others, on the grounds that there were indications of irregularities in their concessions; and, before the verdict was published, the media group decided to discontinue this channel. These advertising blocks shown on the islands (unlike the ads shown on the national channel) are remnants of that era.
