UTA100 Miler in the Blue Mountains of NSW. I hope my story can inspire others to give it a go.

G’day everyone this is Chapo. I remember competing in and finishing my first ever UTA22. It was amazing i ran it with my partner and we laughed because we were now trail runners. The UTA50 was never an option then one day I thought ‘let’s give it a go’. I finished that event and I was impressed with the 100k runners that were going past us 50k runners. The running family is an incredible community. After I finished the UTA50 I couldn't stop thinking about those UTA100 runners. How could they have done that? Let's not forget I am in my 50's, reasonable fitness and have a very busy tourism business so I don't have a lot of time for training. Then when registrations opened I purchased a UTA100 ticket. It's now or never, I just had to give it a go, and I have proudly finished 2 of these epic UTA100 adventures. Then, UTA introduced the UTA100 Miler. As a tour operator that lives and breathes the Blue Mountains, I just had to be part of history. My mates thought I was mad, my family were privately worried, but I got my ticket and that was the first step DONE! I put my support crew together and started training. Our plan was set to try and finish this event in 39 hours and 30 minutes. The cut off was around 45 hours so we knew we had a buffer and in May 2025 I started and finished the greatest running achievement of my life, hallucinations and all. Enjoy my story and a big shout out to Helena, Riley and Lucas for putting together this wonderful video. To Shaun, my brother Jayson and my son Alec who not only crewed me but were my pacers. To Diana, Louise, Chanel, Sam, Reagan and Jen love you all and thanks for being there and sharing the dream.
