VERDI "LA TRAVIATA" MET student performance, APRIL 19TH, 1972, Moffo, Bonisolli, Merrill, Bonynge

A great document. There was a time when the Met bussed in a theater full of kids to attend performances. As the performance starts the kids talk and whisper, but soon settle down. It isn't long before they're yelling and cheering the performance. At the end of act two they explode before Merrill has even finished his high note. In the final scene they lose it when Alfredo runs into Violetta's arms. Cheers of YAY! Wonderful.
