Claudinha Lima, National Secretary of Nucleation for the PT (Workers' Party), speaks to Focus Brasil about the resumption of grassroots nuclei, the reconstruction of the link between the party and the territories, and the goal of organizing 10,000 nuclei by 2029. In the interview, Claudinha analyzes the historical role of the nuclei in the formation of the PT, from the ecclesial base communities, the unions, the factory floor, the popular movements, and the neighborhoods. For her, returning to the territory is essential to keep the party alive, strong, and rooted in Brazilian society. The secretary also discusses the challenges facing the left in the face of social changes, the rise of gig economy, the rise of independent contractors, the advance of neo-Pentecostal churches, and the presence of organized crime in territories where popular politics has lost ground. Claudinha emphasizes that the PT governments transformed the lives of the population, but affirms that it is necessary to return to competing for hearts and minds, to look people in the eye, and to rebuild an organized presence in the real lives of the people.
