Tram type: DUEWAG/Kiepe GT8SU Tram No.: 3206 (ex 3006) Year built: 1973 (conversion to type GT8SU in 1981) Operator: Rheinbahn AG Dusseldorf Number of: 40 Type in use since: 1981 Recorded on the line: E From: Dusseldorf, Schadowstr. ... to: Dusseldorf-Benrath, Betriebshof Between 1973 and 1975 the Rheinische Bahngesellschaft AG Dusseldorf (since 2005 Rheinbahn AG) procured a total of 69 trams of type DUEWAG/Kiepe GT8S (3001-3065, 3101-3104 with dining compartment). In the early 1980s the trams No. 3001-3036 and 3101-3104 were rebuilt for the urban rail system "Stadtbahn" (folding steps, LZB etc) to type GT8SU and got the numbers 3201-3236. The GT8S No. 3037-3065 remained in service up to the year 2011 and then were sold to Krakau (Poland). Tram No. 3206 had been parked since 2001. After extensive restoration by members of the non-profit association "Linie D e. V." and with the support of the Rheinbahn, the tram was made operational again.
