Africans and Life Insurance Life insurance remains taboo in Africa. For a long time, taking out insurance for a relative was perceived as an ambiguous, malicious, and almost suspicious act. As if wanting to protect someone meant anticipating their death. These prejudices have hindered the adoption of tools that are nevertheless essential for facing grief with dignity. But mentalities are changing. The Cameroonian diaspora, immersed in societies where life is as much about preparing for death as it is about living, is discovering another culture: one of foresight, organization, and family protection. It is within this dynamic that the Chain of Solidarity – Diaspora (LCS) was created, an organization that offers a solidarity model centered on families remaining in Cameroon. The idea is to plan for the future funerals of relatives who are still alive in their home country. How does this community initiative work and how can you benefit from it?
