Tim’s Journey: From Diagnosis to Advocacy | Colon Cancer Survivor Story
Tim was 46 years old, healthy, and had no symptoms or family history of colon cancer. Like many people, he didn’t think screening applied to him until his doctor told him the recommended colon cancer screening age was 45. That conversation changed everything. Tim chose to take a Cologuard test, a noninvasive screening option for colon cancer. When the results came back positive, his doctor reassured him and recommended a follow-up colonoscopy. But what they found was life-changing: Tim had colon cancer. Thanks to early detection, Tim was able to begin treatment right away. Today, he’s cancer-free and a proud grandfather. He’s sharing his story to encourage others to take screening seriously. His story is a powerful reminder that colon cancer screening at 45 can make a difference even if you have no symptoms. Important Note: Cologuard is not for everyone. If you’re experiencing symptoms or are at high risk for colon cancer, talk to your doctor about other screening options. Indication for Use: The Cologuard test is intended to screen adults 45 and older at average risk for colorectal cancer. Do not use if you have had adenomas, have inflammatory bowel disease, certain hereditary syndromes, or a personal or family history of colorectal cancer. Cologuard® is not a replacement for colonoscopy in high-risk patients. Cologuard performance in adults ages 45-49 is estimated based on a large clinical study of patients 50 and older. False positives and false negatives can occur. Rx only. Results may vary.
