My Favorite Way to Cook a Steak | Cowboy Ribeye & Miss Audrey’s Famous Macaroni and Cheese
There’s nothing better than a perfectly cooked cowboy ribeye, and today I’m sharing my favorite way to cook a steak — a method my mother taught me when I was growing up. This cowboy ribeye is simply seasoned with salt and pepper, then cooked in a cast iron skillet and finished in the oven until it is tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Sometimes the simplest recipes are the ones that bring back the best memories. To go along with this steak, we’re making Miss Audrey’s famous macaroni and cheese — a comforting, homemade side dish that has become a family favorite. This isn’t just a steak dinner… it’s a little taste of home, family memories, and good old-fashioned cooking from the back porch. Cast Iron Cowboy Ribeye Steak Ingredients Cowboy ribeye steak (or your favorite cut of steak) Salt, to taste Black pepper, to taste 2 tablespoons butter Directions 1. Remove your steak from the refrigerator and allow it to come closer to room temperature before cooking. 2. Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and black pepper. 3. Preheat your oven to 350°F. 4. Heat a cast iron skillet or other oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. 5. Once the butter has melted, place the steak in the skillet and sear on both sides until it develops a nice crust. 6. Cover the skillet with a lid or tightly cover with aluminum foil and place it in the 350°F oven. 7. Cook the steak until it is beautifully browned, tender, and cooked to your desired doneness. Begin checking your steak after about 1 hour, as cooking time will vary depending on the thickness and cut of the steak. 8. Once the steak is tender, remove it from the oven and allow it to rest before slicing. 9. Serve your cowboy ribeye with your favorite sides.
