The 7th Saga (SNES) - Solo Kamil Final Boss and Ending
Time to pray for RNGesus. As most people might be aware at this point, this game has completely broken difficulty courtesy of the localization team deeming the game was "too easy", and then made it "bastardly difficult to the point of being anti fun". Nevertheless, Gorsia. The breakdown of this boss is like this: right out of the bat, you can't damage him directly. You need to use your Runes to open up his defenses - each one reduces his stats dramatically to the point you can actually do anything. Wizard Rune: makes him show up. Light Rune: removes his barrier. Moon Rune: halves attack. Sky Rune: halves magic. Wind Rune: halves agility. Star Rune: halves defense. Water Rune: halves his HP. The catch here is that, first you must use Wizard and Light Runes in that specific order, for the ones that actually do good things to work. Meanwhile the boss will just be pelting you non-stop with attacks that can easily kill you in 2 hits (or one hit in case he gets lucky with physical attack critical). Preparations are: stock up on as many Recovery and Potion 3 as you can. Kamil in particular has the handy Heal 3 which fully heals him, so that's great. You'll need every bit of healing you can fit in. Needless to say, get the best equipment you can, and since this game is very grindy, you should grind levels until you hit the upper 60s or at least until your Agility breaks 200. Or for as long as you can tolerate the grinding. Also, stock up on all the status boost items - reminder that you CANNOT buy B Protects in the final few areas of the game, so it's imperative you get them all BEFORE going to the past, or the final boss will be pretty much unwinnable unless your character can cast defense up! Kamil can't so be aware! Bring some Harps and Mirrors just in case too. The strategy isn't that much different even if you had a partner. First off, buff your defense - Gorsia can and will kill you in one hit with a physical attack without buffs. What you're looking for is anytime your character dodges any attack and has max HP, or if Gorsia wastes a turn casting Vaccum (the blackhole thing that's instant death). Anytime that happens, you pop up another item to buff yourself, preferably the B Agility to boost your agility and increase the chances he'll whiff an attack, or you use a Rune. If he does anything else, just heal - he'll kill you next turn if you don't. Time is against you because, if he uses up all his MP casting damage magic, that means he'll be stuck doing physical attacks and those can insta kill you with a critical. If you run out of healing items and haven't yet cast the Light Rune, the run is over. Reload and try again. Yes, it's a total RNG fest. Once you use the Light Rune, you got a possible run, but a critical can still kill you. You can wait until he runs out of MP (he'll start attacking over and over) to pop the Moon Rune, at which point he just can't kill you anymore unless you leave your HP dangerously low. Buff your attack, debuff the rest of his stats with the remaining Runes, heal when needed, and win. The ending is the same for all characters. Thank God. It's really not worth the trouble this game is to play. Seriously. The 7th Saga 1993, Enix All rights reserved to their respective creators.
