We managed to catch a beautiful yellowtail snapper, a grouper, a moray eel, and several other species that inhabit these tropical waters. Fishing on the Malecón always brings surprises, and this time was no exception. As we enjoyed this adventure, we remembered the importance of February 27, 1844, the day the Dominican Republic achieved its independence from Haiti, thanks to the struggle of the patriots led by Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, and Matías Ramón Mella.
