PRATAP SUBBA was a distinguished Nepali filmmaker and one of the pioneering architects of original Nepali cinema. A multifaceted creative talent, he was a film director, writer, playwright, and acting coach, and the first Indian filmmaker of Nepali origin to direct Nepali-language films. His visionary work played a significant role in shaping the identity and growth of modern Nepali cinema. Born in 1947 in Darjeeling, India, Subba passed away at the age of 78 on 16 March 2023 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Siliguri, India.
