Rangsapara, also known as “Assam’s Cleanest Village” is a mesmerizing and non-descript settlement situated at a distance of 17.00 km from the Goalpara town in the South East direction. Most of the population in the village belongs to tribal community and agriculture is their main source of livelihood. Back in 2017, this village is the cleanest village in Assam due to its evident cleanliness. Villagers take voluntary part in keeping this village neat and clean. We got to meet the “head sarpanch” of the village and learnt how his hard work and dedication transformed a simple and unsung village into one of the cleanest villages in Assam and brought his village on the nation’s map. Now tourists from all over the country visit this village in large number to see its cleanliness, bringing about a hefty revenue for the village as the byproduct of the noble efforts put in by one and all of the native residents of the Rangsapara village. This village sets a unique precedent for so many other villages in our country.
