Board Talk: Tone of Gypsys - Jimi Hendrix

For many guitar players, the crown of all-time tone titan would indisputably belong to none other than Mr. James Marshall Hendrix. Throughout his iconic career, Hendrix established himself as a pioneer of a multitude of brand new playing, recording and tonal techniques, that would see him inspire legions of players for generations to come. However, the mysteries of those famous tonal approaches are often generalised and perhaps even misunderstood. After all, there are many products on the market nowadays bearing Hendrix's name, one could be forgiven for a little confusion! In today's Board Talk video, Jack attempts to decipher what these different products represent, how Hendrix would have used them in different ways and how the stages of his career informed not only his ever-changing playing style, but also the instruments and new gadgets that were required to keep up with his constantly evolving genius. In the running today are several offerings from MXR's Hendrix Tribute Pedal lineup, including a reference to Eddie Kramer's famously inspired studio efforts, in the form of reverse delay, provided by a Boss DD-8.
