The Righteous Live by Faith, A Study in Galatians 3:11

Because of Jesus, we no longer have to build our lives on our own spiritual performance. We are already loved, already welcomed, and already His. The righteous do not live by striving, fear, comparison, or self-improvement. They live by faith in a faithful God. Have you ever felt like you're failing at the Christian life? Many of us begin our journey with God carrying the same insecurities we experience in other areas of life. We compare ourselves to others. We wonder if we're praying enough, serving enough, reading enough, or doing enough. We want to be good Christians, but underneath it all is often a fear that we're somehow getting it wrong. The believers in Galatia felt something similar. After hearing the good news of Jesus, they were told that faith alone wasn't enough. If they truly wanted to belong to God's family, they needed to add religious performance to their faith. Paul's response was clear: "The righteous shall live by faith." In this message, we explore the heart of Paul's argument in Galatians, the meaning of biblical faith, and why both Paul and Martin Luther fought so passionately against performance-based religion. Together we'll discover that righteousness is not something we achieve through striving but something we receive through Jesus Christ. The gospel does not produce exhausted people constantly trying to prove themselves to God. It produces secure sons and daughters who live from God's love rather than for it.
